Summary

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 2, Episode 3, “Orinoco”, slows the momentum down slightly to give more context to the story and provides more development for the characters.

This recap of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 2, Episode 3 “Orinoco” contains significant spoilers. You can read the recap of the previous episode by clicking these words.

After two hectic opening episodes, “Orinoco” slows it down a little to add layers to the story. It begins in Tampa, Florida, and Marcus (Jovan Adepo) has accepted Matice’s deal — they will be heading to Venezuela on a special task force team. As Marcus is the boat driver, the men nickname him “Uber”, which you can tell does not delight him.

We also get insight into Gloria Bonalde’s family life — she has a lovely little family, and she appears to be a genuine politician. Her political aide reveals she is up by another four points in the electoral race.

And Gloria delivers a passionate speech in Episode 3, “Orinoco”, detailing how her husband went missing over a year ago, which drove her to run for President. She talks of how patriots always go missing. Gloria’s speech is met with applause but what was compelling is that Bastos attended.

At the midway point in Jack Ryan Season, Episode 3, while on the road, Jack asks Jim if he is okay. Jim denies anything is wrong, then Jack throws a spanner in the works and shows Jim’s medication. The story swiftly moves forward and they meet up with Matice, Marcus and the task team. Their mission: to infiltrate the shipments and find whatever is on them.

The special task team head to the shipments in the middle of a jungle. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 2 continues down the path that Jack is unstable in his actions; he goes rogue without the team’s assistance, entering one of the shipments. He is caught, but the task team finally catches up and helo Jack. The man who attacked Jack is now their hostage — Jim and Matice rip one of his fingers off so they can analyze his DNA.

On the way back to the boat, they are attacked, however, they manage to get away, but they lose Marcus — Matice explains they will come back for him.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 2, Episode 3, “Orinoco”, ends with Jim revealing to Jack that he has a bad heart condition. I can make a bet that Jack’s irrational actions or Jim’s health is going to become important at some point.

Intel Reports

  • Mike November asks Jim if the mission is too close to home for him.
  • Reyes makes it known to Miguel Ubirra about the recording. Reyes asks Ubirra if Gloria Bomalde has a chance of winning an election — the silence says it all.
  • Miguel Ubirra and his wife have dinner — he tells her their house is bugged.
