Summary

Feel Good Season 1, Episode 2 delves into attachment issues as Mae and George enter a new phase of their relationship.

This recap of Netflix Series Feel Good season 1, episode 2 contains significant spoilers.

Things are getting complicated quickly between Mae and George as their relationship progresses. After Mae shows George the tattoo she got in jail, George reveals she is going to a wedding but that she isn’t taking Mae as a plus-one, due to it being a “tiny wedding”. George also talks about her disagreements with the sanctity of marriage but Mae is bugged by the fact that none of George’s family and friends know about her.

So of course, with an addictive personality comes attachment issues. When George arrives at the wedding, Mae gets really clingy, constantly texting and ringing George, so much so George has no choice but to set boundaries while she is away — “No texts for 30 hours”.

I felt that George completely misunderstood her partner here, as Mae does not cope well with uncertainty; Mae decides to meet her sponsor Maggie and they go for a drink.

At the wedding, George reveals she has a girlfriend at the wedding to the photographer — the photographer wonders why George’s girlfriend is not there; it’s noticeably a busy wedding, not a tiny one, as she suggested earlier.

Mae continues to fret that George is not contacting her — she’s blatantly on edge. Mae’s mother states that she is just needy; Mae tells her mother that she cannot remember what she used to think about before George, but her mother starts listing all of Mae’s exes. Mae’s frustrations start boiling over; she attends the Narcotics Anonymous meeting and starts calling out Kevin as a liar.

Feel Good Season 1, Episode 2 closes with George returning home; she daydreams of her getting engaged to Mae before she gets back. When she returns, George asks Mae if she’s okay — Mae claims that everything is fine.

It’s abundantly clear that she is not okay.
