Summary
“Scared Stiff (Oregon) Part 2” brings the first two-parter to a close, harkening back to classic horror anthologies.

So 50 States of Fright episode 8 opens with our distraught driver being murdered by a real live full-grown Sasquatch, and our taxidermist Sebastian hiding from the beast as it enters his workshop.
The creature, not CGI but practical, discovers the discarded entrails from the preceding work, and leaves until our antagonist calls the creature back and offers it the stuffed finished product. Unfortunately, the glue hasn’t set yet, and as Sasquatch holds its lifeless offspring, the glass eyes pop out resulting in one angry monster.
The scene cuts away, we hear the screams, and our narrator for this segment explains that she found the torn-apart body and decides that it is no way for a talented man to be remembered, so to give him the dignity he deserves. She, of course, stitches his corpse back together.
So this is our first two-parter, with a total run time of 20 minutes, so you cannot fault this series for dragging things out.
Despite the obvious criticisms that could be leveled at this show, at least you can’t say they stretch the plots too thinly.
For me personally, I like the callback to short twist-ending stories like these.
It does harken back to the days of old anthology films such as Doctor Terror’s House of Horrors, or Asylum, where a 90-minute runtime would be filled with five separate stories all linked by a narrative thread that would pay off at the end.
Call me old fashioned, I like this series.
