Podcast Diary Entry #5

This will be the most off topic diary entry since the start of Ready, Steady Cut! but I’d like to think I’ve got a worthy enough excuse for this one.

You may have noticed that on the 7th May there was no podcast episode, and it was not because we had taken our foot off the gas; it was because that weekend, me and Laura became parents to Zachary Daniel Hart (11 pounds, 6 ounces). Yes, it finally happened, and I could not be happier. I know a lot of people will be rolling their eyes at what I say next but here it is: Nothing can really prepare you for that moment when your child is born, and I cannot imagine feeling that emotion again unless we have another baby. In fact, I’m not even going to describe the feeling because it would take too many soppy sentences to put it into words. The other good news is that Laura is recovering well and we are currently figuring this parent stuff out, which so far has provided some amusing outcomes.

Finally, to finish on less important matters, during our week away from podcasting Jonathon posted many reviews on the website so make sure you check them out. We are back recording so expect the schedule to be back on track and keep a look out for new episodes every Wednesday and Sunday. We have also made the decision to grow the writing side of Ready, Steady, Cut! so we will be taking on interested film critics to join our exciting project for an initial one month. Details of this will be released soon.

Oh, and by the way, Zach will be guesting on the show. I know you are dying to hear from him.

Speak to you next time.

We need your help. Ready Steady Cut is an independently owned and operated outlet, and would like to remain so. But online advertising revenue is so pathetic that the only way to do that is by publishing clickbait nonsense and farming hate clicks. We’d rather not do that. So, we need your help. Now we’re reaching more readers than ever before, and providing a platform to more volunteer writers than ever before, we want to find an approach that builds a closer connection between our writers and readers while keeping our content free and accessible for everyone. And we want to get rid of ads. If you’d like to help us do that, please consider donating to our Patreon page. Over a million people have visited the site in the last few months – if a tenth of that number donated as little as $1, our future would be secure. Thank you.
