Summary

Resuming from where we left off, the Sense8 finale takes the cluster on their most trying journey yet. Still attempting to escape the clutches of Whispers, the cluster must learn to protect and defend one another in an attempt to simply stay alive.

In early 2017, Netflix notoriously undertook its very own canceling binge, discontinuing any show that did not meet the same viewing figures as shows perhaps like 13 Reasons Why or Orange Is The New Black.

Shows such as Girl Boss and The Get Down barely had time to show their faces before being deemed unworthy of continuation. In the middle of Netflix’s seemingly ruthless cancellation streak also came the announcement that beloved series Sense8 would come to an end with season 2.

This decision came only 2 weeks after seasons 2’s debut, and not without repercussion. Following Netflix’s decision, Sense8‘s fans displayed an immense amount of support and love towards the creators. Fans went as far as to petition for the return of the all-embracing series, gathering thousands of names in hopes for future seasons.

Netflix indeed responded; the devotion to Sense8 and the passion for the series was unmistakable. They agreed to the Sense8 finale episode, a satisfying compromise for many.

Sense8 has really knocked it out of the park with this explosive finale. The cluster we have come to know and love tackle some of the darkest times in their lives together. We are taken on a journey of transformation, a journey that recognizes human vulnerabilities as strengths, as we discover what it means to be part of a family.

From the very beginning, Sense8′s idea of family and belonging has earned it the title of being one of the most inclusive and diverse shows around. With characters from all walks of life, with different countries, languages, and identities, the Sense8 finale shatters boundaries and welcomes differences in light of recognition and acceptance.

For myself and fans alike, Sense8 has been an adventure that has not been experienced alone. Taking away the main drama and narrative, we can see that the most important part of the Sense8 finale is it’s ideologies and principles, constantly challenging stereotypes and fighting discrimination.

It would be hard not to find a character you relate to, which leads audiences to have a very personal viewing experience. After researching Sense8 and being such a huge fan myself, I have stumbled across post after post and article after article from fans discussing the positive impacts of Sense8 and have found many personal accounts of the show’s influence and impact on real lives.

I cannot say enough how beautiful Sense8 is, as a show, and as a representation of how we are all humans, with the ability to love, fight and forgive.

The Sense8 finale is magnificent. Without giving anything away I can confidently say that the ending is completely satisfying. Stunning and beautiful, the finale is an incredible homage to the characters that we have come to adore.

Splendid in personality and exciting in action, the finale gives audiences a chance to see the cluster they have come to know and love, grow and evolve into more than we could have ever wished.

The magnitude of work that has gone into Sense8, so evident in the first and second series, remains in its final 2-and-a-half-hour episode. Questions are answered and concerns are addressed; the creators, cast and production team deliver a respectful and wholesome justice for the far-reaching series.

The cast has truly outdone themselves with this finale, once again bringing life to their characters with recognizable personalities, and familiar traits. Fans will coo at the familiarity of their beloved cluster, tender in the presence of characters they have come to identify with.

This being said the cast has worked to create a finale that is unforgettable by also bringing new depth to their characters, showing us sides we never knew we wanted to see as they each struggle to understand their worth and place in the cluster.

I could not write this review without the mention of its creators  J. Michael Straczynski, Lana Wachowski, and Lilly Wachowski, who worked tirelessly to deliver an impossible series, shot all over the world.

When Sense8 was given a new lease of life, co-creator Lana Wachowski wrote and released a very personal letter detailing the despair that followed the show’s cancellation but also, more importantly, the inspiration and comfort she found in the Sense8 fan community.

This open appreciation between fans and creators brings a feeling of warmth and genuineness that resonates with people, removing the screen between creator and audience. Reassuringly this letter brought forth a feeling of kinship for the passion shared for the show and its themes.

Once again the Sense8 finale has achieved impossible cinematography and meaningful content that is sure to connect with people from all over the world. The finale is a completely rewarding piece that left me with goosebumps frequently, as I eagerly watched on in anticipation.

I’ll admit I also shed a few tears in anticipation for the final farewell. After everything, I thank Sense8 and everyone involved in its creation and every fan whose voice was not unheard.

Although the Sense8 journey may have come to an end, I hope we can all agree that this fantastic series will not be forgotten and I hope the finale feels as satisfying for you as it did for me. The finale is marvelous a way to wrap up such an influential show, a worthy farewell to the stunning achievement of the Sense8 series.
