Summary

The augmented reality game is getting a little repetitive, but the relationship between the lead characters continues to grow in strength in Memories of Alhambra episode 6.

This recap of Memories of the Alhambra Season 1, Episode 6, contains spoilers. You can check out our thoughts on the previous episode by clicking these words.

Jung Hee-joo (Shin-Hye Park) finally loses her patience in Memories of the Alhambra episode 6. After dealing with the sporadic Yoo Jin-woo (Hyun Bin), she finally lets her feelings loose, in a rare moment of affection and frustration. Money does not buy everything, and his misunderstood behaviour makes the hostel owner feel disjointed with her developing relationship with the wealthy businessman.

I have to admit; I am getting a little bored with the constant badgering of Cha Hyung-seok (Park Hoon) who keeps turning up offering to duel. There is clearly a reason for the repeated attempts to fight Yoo Jin-woo but it often provides little progress to the story, and only gets the main protagonist in a state of panic, making him look like a lunatic around his peers.

Memories of the Alhambra episode 6 sees Jung Hee-joo following the CEO as he decides to take on the game, this time with his contact lenses in. The character feels determined to explore further into the game but also deal with the constant presence of the non-player character persistently trying to kill him. This time, he appears to be in luck, tactically killing Cha Hyung-seok again in a series of different attacks to take down his deceased foe. It must be strange to kill someone again in an augmented reality game who is deceased in real life. It must be stranger when once again he returns, making Yoo Jin-woo believe he is in a glitch.

For the rest of episode 6, Jung Hee-joo looks after Yoo Jin-woo while business executives and family argue about the next steps of the company. Yoo Jin-woo’s wife Go Yu-ra drunkenly threatens Jung Hee-joo over her close relationship with her husband. Understandably of course, but it’s blatant she only started caring when he was on death’s door.

Episode 6 ends with Yoo Jin-woo getting paranoid about another duel attack and wondering if he has a mental illness; knowing full well he has run out of drugs, he resorts to some alcohol to try to sleep and questions his sanity. At this stage of the series, I have no idea, but I am going to take a measured guess that he isn’t hallucinating. He kind of asks Cha Hyung-seok for forgiveness, asking if he won’t stop until he is dead and finally has the confidence to leave his self-made solitary confinement. He decides to leave, making Jung Hee-joo distraught and rushes to go see him and try to stop him from leaving.

She fails, giving a rather soppy ending to an average episode.
