Summary

Memories of the Alhambra Episode 15 pieced together loose pieces of the jigsaw, giving us a taste of the possible conclusion to the series.

This recap of Memories of the Alhambra Season 1, Episode 15, contains spoilers. You can check out our thoughts on the previous episode by clicking these words.

So it is confirmed. Memories of the Alhambra Episode 15 reveals that it was not a diversion to trick us. The elusive game programmer that made all this happen in the first place is back. Jung Se-joo (Chan-Yeol Park) looks dazed and traumatised by his experiences in the game. He explains to his sister that he did not murder his friend and that he has been trapped in a hidden dungeon ever since, waiting for someone to complete the conquest.

The series still needs to explain why the game is operating in the way it conducts itself, and why people die when its whole concept is virtual reality, but Jung Se-joo is so panic-stricken that I was not hopeful that the answer would come from him. Jung Hee-joo (Shin-Hye Park) is relieved to have her brother back, but she is also worried about Yoo Jin-woo (Hyun Bin) who did not return from the game because he ended up passing out at a restaurant after nearly dying.

Memories of the Alhambra Episode 15 explains Yoo Jin-woo’s brief disappearance. When he went to the church to meet the non-playable character Emma, he gave her the key to Heaven, and she randomly stabs him with it. As Yoo Jin-woo’s health deteriorates it flashes up on his game dashboard that Emma is deleting the bug in the game, and at this point, we can only assume he is part of the problem; he is the bug. But in his confusion, pain and near death – he palms off Emma and escapes the church.

Once recovered, Yoo Jin-woo makes it his mission to rid the game’s problems for good. He meets Mr. Cha who is still trembling from the experience he has had from playing the game. Yoo Jin-woo makes it clear to him that they either die or survive to fix whatever is happening together, but first, Mr. Cha must write a statement clearing his name and also placing the blame on himself. Mr. Cha understands that this will destroy his life and sneakily goes to the bathroom and orders the company to turn on the servers while the bathroom door is locked, hoping the NPCs will kill Yoo Jin-woo.

Memories of the Alhambra Episode 15 sees M.r Cha getting a taste of his own medicine, believing the game has killed his business acquaintance; he leaves the bathroom only to find the NPC version of his son bearing down on him. In a moment of passion, Mr Cha tries to survive, but the game overcomes him, killing him in the process. Yoo Jin-woo, deflated by what has just happened, immediately wants to see Jung Hee-joo and makes his way to her home. With a wave of emotions overriding his choices, he decides not to see Jung Hee-joo and instead visits the church.

Memories of the Alhambra Episode 15 was an episode that offered much progress and insight into how this may all end.
