This is our Marvel Previews Round-Up for May 2019. You can still check out our previous round-up for releases in April by clicking these words.
War Of The Realms continues to wreak havoc throughout the Marvel Universe in May, and if you have unlimited disposable income, lucky you, then you can pick up all the titles in the run so you get the full story. Issues #3 and #4 will be out in May, then, wait for it, all the tie-ins, too. Take a deep breath now.
Asgardians Of The Galaxy #9
Fantastic Four #10
Squirrel Girl #44
Iron Man #12
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #43
Then the mini-series tie ins:
Spider-Man And the League Of The Realms #1 and #2 of 3
Uncanny X-Men #2 of 3
Punisher #2 of 3
New Agents Of Atlas #1 and #2 of 4
Strikeforce the Dark Elf Realm #1
Strikeforce the Land Of Giants #1
Strikeforce the War Avengers #1
Journey Into Mystery #2 and #3 of 5
War Scroll #2 of 3
That’s a lot of Realms.
In the main title by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman, All Mother Freyja has the key to end Malekith’s war, however, Malekith has a venomous secret weapon, ready for war. Meanwhile, in another part of the Universe, Spider-Man is still being hunted in issues #20 and #21, with the fallout in issue #22 by Spencer and Ottley.
Captain America #11 sees Cap on the run, again, wanted for murder, while the Immortal Hulk #17 and #18 see Banner trapped inside Shadow Base Site A hunted and unable to transform. This is again my top Marvel pick for May.
In Star Wars land, Mathew Rossenberg brings us Star Wars 108, and this looks like a continuation of Marvel’s original Star Wars run by Archie Goodwin; that is a nostalgia-filled adventure helping the celebrations of Marvel’s 80th year.
Spider-Man miniseries Life Story finds us at issue #3 in the 1980’s and Miles Morales and Superior Spider-Man hit their 6th issue.
Other notable May releases include Cosmic Ghost Rider #3 with GR grabbing some of that Phoenix Force, and Daredevil #5 and #6 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto finds Matt accused of murder and disappearing from Hell’s Kitchen. The place, not the Gordon Ramsay vehicle.
There are a couple of nice facsimile editions this month. Marvel Feature 1 First Defenders and Alpha Flight 1, complete unedited, ads and all.
My other must grab in May is the next X-Men Grand Design issue from Ed Piskor. This is X-Tinction #1 of 2 and is the final addition to this title reliving classic storylines from The Mutant Massacre and Fall Of The Mutants, an X-Men fan must-have.
Age of X-Man miniseries’ all trundle on this month, as does the Conan line, but look out for Savage Avengers #1 by Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato Jnr, with Conan mixing it up with Wolverine, Venom, Elektra and The Punisher. Who would have thought it? The Hand get involved, and it looks like Conan goes head to toe with Wolverine as he did way back in What If Volume 2 Issue #16 in 1990. Get speculating.
