Summary
Episode 1, “Triangular Peg, Meet Round Hole”, is a routine chapter for You Me Her as the trio adjusts to their new dynamic.
This recap of You Me Her Season 4, Episode 1, “Triangular Peg, Meet Round Hole” contains spoilers.
I’m astonished that 1) You Me Her made it to the fourth season and 2) that I still kind of like it, despite its overly cheesy dialogue, and its cursory look at polyamorous relationships. Izzy (Priscilla Faia), Emma (Rachel Blanchard) and Jack (Greg Poehler) begin their poly-marriage with the arrival of a baby in You Me Her Season 4, Episode 1, “Triangular Peg, Meet Round Hole”, which means adding a new dimension to the story, but likely to offer the everyday privileged problems that betray them every season.
And fate has hit the trio because they are not just having a single child, they are having twins, meaning everything got a whole lot more complicated. Not only do they have to figure out how to manage a three-way committed relationship, but also deal with the likes of a buying a suburban home, settling down and affording two children.
Izzy is the youngest, so naturally, she is panicking that Emma and Jack are living their world, rather than considering hers, but her suddenly understanding father reminds her that she loves them, prompting her to take life more seriously, pondering the job market so she can contribute to their new found lives. Meanwhile, Nina is all loved up with her new man.
Jack and Emma pursue their careers in this chapter, landing unconventional truth-bombs about their new lives to the interviewers for prospective jobs. Emma is on the receiving end of discrimination as her interviewer doesn’t want to offer the job because she’s due to be a mother. Emma doesn’t get to complete her interview, as she starts to experience either Braxton Hicks or labor. I’m not an expert, but I will make the guess it is one of the two.
Episode 1, “Triangular Peg, Meet Round Hole”, ends with Jack and Izzy partying the night away, and Emma calling them due to the pain.
I will probably keep on repeating this, but isn’t Jack the luckiest man ever?
