People, the time has come to close the curtains on our favourite inmates! Netflix has released the first look and date announced for Orange is the New Black season 7. I think it was time for the story to end, but regardless, this series has touched fans everywhere and led to similar female-led material on Netflix with the likes of Glow. I very much enjoyed season 6, but I have to admit, I did want the streaming platform to provide closure on all these characters. There’s only so much they can run this story until it becomes a bit dry. It has captured the imaginations of many and opened up a number of important conversations.
Here is how the date was announced for Orange is the New Black season 7:
It’s a fitting tribute to announce it, with some of our beloved characters casually singing the famous introduction song of the series.
Here is Netflix’s official statement regarding the final season:
Orange Is The New Black ushered in a monumental era of television, and for six unforgettable seasons has fearlessly tackled some of the most difficult, relevant, and human stories of our time. In its final season, the ladies of Litchfield come to terms with the fact that prison has changed them forever.
Piper struggles with life on the outside, while life in Max, as corrupt and unjust as ever, goes on without her. Taystee’s friendship with Cindy still hangs in the balance as her life sentence looms, Gloria and her kitchen staff are confronted by the hard truth of Polycon’s newest profit stream, while others chase drugs or dreams and grapple with the reality of their place in this world.
The premise has all the bearings of a closing season, so let’s hope they deliver the best for the fans. Here are the first-look images of Orange is the New Black season 7:
