I am not entirely sure how to feel about the Terminator: Dark Fate teaser trailer if I am honest. Terminator will always be a big deal; in fact, we did a podcast episode specifically about it, however, I haven’t seen a large audience scream for more. Here is the trailer:
The Terminator: Dark Fate teaser trailer confirms that it hasn’t moved on from the usual John/Sarah Connor story, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger is eager to hold on to his little gem, making a slight appearance at the end. The whole irony about Dark Fate is that James Cameron has created the story for this one, yet complained about unoriginality and fatigue when it comes to the MCU Universe. Not taking anything away from his talents at all, but he is becoming the director that relies solely on his previous projects. Anyway, here is the general premise from Wikipedia:
More than two decades after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah Connor sets out to protect a young woman named Dani Ramos and her friends as a liquid metal Terminator sent from the future attempts to terminate them.
As you can tell by the premise, there is a real desire here to continue strands of the original story. Maybe it’s because the newer Terminator material has failed to produce critical acclaim, and like Star Wars, they have made the decision to rely on the generation that was first exposed to the futuristic story. As for the trailer itself, it does not inspire, but it does have some cool moments with a high-speed chase at the beginning. The trailer gives the atmospheric feeling, but if you strip away the soundtrack, it’s seen-before action. Regardless, it looks okay and I am sure we will all be thrilled to attend the cinema to watch it anyway.
