It might have already been canceled, but it’s difficult not to feel some sense of anticipation for the latest installment of a Marvel/Netflix show, even if the last season started out alright and then profoundly disappointed. Nevertheless, it turns out that Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 3 is actually right around the corner, with an official release date of Friday, June 14. You can check out the brief announcement video below.

From the official press release:

When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down.  But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.

The series is executive produced by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage) who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television. Marvel’s Jessica Jones is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

Season three cast also features Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Trilogy), Eka Darville (Empire), Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Jeremy Bobb (Russian Doll), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Tiffany Mack (Hap and Leonard), Jessica Frances Dukes (The Good Wife), Aneesh Sheth (New Amsterdam) and Rebecca DeMornay (The Hand that Rocks the Cradle).

As if that all weren’t tantalizing enough, we also have some first-look images from Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 3, which you can pore over below.

With everyone involved well-aware of the show’s doomed future, one can only assume that everyone decided to go out with a bang and not just phone it in. The potential has always been there for Jessica Jones, in particular, to do something truly unique and special with the Marvel ecosystem, and after the second season didn’t capitalize on the first season’s promise, perhaps the third and final outing will manage to do that.
