I must be blind because when I opened up Film Twitter today, I heard no-one mention the release of In Fabric Trailer 1. Oh, this brought back memories. Remember when Hereditary came out, and if you did not like it, you didn’t understand films/horror/indies? If you didn’t watch it at the cinema, you were deemed not a purist? Personally, I believed Hereditary was fine up until a certain point, and then I just laughed my way to the end. And no, I did not watch it on the big screen, but my 4K TV deemed it sufficient.
Joking aside, A24 is known for pleasing Independent movie enthusiasts, and I am all for a company like this one growing in the market to compete with the big dogs. We need more competition, rather than getting served the seen-before Annabelle.
Looking at In Fabric Trailer 1, it seems to have the same style, and art-house feel, which is not surprising. Here it is anyway:
Putting my pettiness aside, I do like the concept. The way the character acts oblivious to having a “killer” dress kind of adds to the comedy. First impressions are that the horror will be divisive, and the so-called “popcorn” horror crowds just won’t get it as they wonder why the special effects are dreadful. Here is the premise:
In Fabric is a haunting ghost story set against the backdrop of a busy winter sales period in a department store and follows the life of a cursed dress as it passes from person to person, with devastating consequences.
I guess I must ask, and I really do hope I do not get plenty of comments bashing my sarcastic approach to this article, but what do you think of In Fabric Trailer 1? Do you think it will surpass the praise of its predecessor?
