We rejoin our heroes in “A.K.A I Wish” for once excited to be around each other — one of them, anyway. Trish is very excited about the crimefighting team-up with Jessica, while Sallinger is busying himself being creepy in a dark room, developing photographs of his various escapades. He’s an odd one, this fella. Someone should keep an eye on him.

Speaking of keeping eyes on people, Peter Lyonne, the lecherous lecturer, has been well and truly rumbled by the videos of him doing the no-pants-dance with his classmates. Kith is fuming, naturally, and with Hogarth’s influence, his attempt to talk her around is a colossal failure.

Of course, this comes back to bite Hogarth in “A.K.A I Wish”. Peter, distraught, commits suicide, and films the act along with a passionate insistence that Hogarth is unethical in her defense of the superpowered and at least partially responsible for his death. Needless to say, this begins to shine an unpleasant light on her firm, which as we know is something she simply cannot have.

Trish and Jessica, meanwhile, begin to stake out Sallinger. He lives alone, coaches kids’ wrestling, and is living off a settlement after his brother’s untimely death in an accident. He also keeps his creepy photos in a secret album; Trish, in a rare moment of usefulness, breaks in and photographs them.

Erik goes to see his prostitute sister in “A.K.A I Wish”. Her street name is Berry, though she looks a little overripe. Believing her to be in danger, he and Jessica drop her with Malcolm, who has conveniently taken some time off work. There’s a funny bit in which Berry tries to play up and Jessica keeps tossing her around the room; it’s easy to forget sometimes that she actually has superpowers. Speaking of which, Erik has a tell-tale flare-up around Malcolm, detecting some unpleasantness in him, which suggests there’s some validity to his powers too.

After a lot of sedate storytelling, “A.K.A I Wish” turns up the intensity for its climax. Berry calls her pimp, who lays out Malcolm and takes her back to the corner. Trish and Jessica, meanwhile, move in on Sallinger’s creepy trainyard hideout, where the latter finds herself imprisoned in an airless chamber full of ziplocked severed body parts. It’s a tense sequence; Jessica trying to brute-force her way free, and failing, and gradually asphyxiating, all while Trish works to free her from above. She eventually does, of course. But Sallinger is able to escape for long enough to attack and choke out Erik, taking him hostage just in time for the next episode.
