This episode of Designated Survivor: 60 Days Season 1, Episode 4, “Confession” contains significant spoilers. The Korean Netflix Series will be running weekly every Monday and Tuesday until season 1 ends. You can read the recap of the previous episode by clicking these words.

A beacon of hope is discussed in the opening of episode 4, “Confession”. Politician Assemblyman Oh Yeon-seok is the sole survivor, and the media are all over the miracle. There’s also an expectation that Park Moo-jin (Jin-hee Ji) will run for President, giving Designated Survivor: 60 Days an extra dimension, just like the original.

It’s Day 58, and there is a power outage in the Blue House – the network has been hacked. It’s possible that North Korea hacked the network to send a threatening video message, but the President wants to understand the authenticity of the media tape. Park Moo-jin seems to be in President mode in “Confession”. There’s another debate about North Korea’s intentions and the validity of the intelligence. With President Park making logical decisions, General Lee makes a gnawing comment about Park trying to protect his reputation.

There’s also a strange debate about a state funeral and how it should be implemented in “Confession”. Mayor Kang wants a more extended ceremony, but the exposition claims he needs it to be seven days so he can attempt to gain more votes for future elections. Park Moo-jin decides that survivor and Assemblyman Oh Yeon-seok delivers the eulogy after a recommendation from the opposition leader Yun who is flagrantly plotting her own agendas. Yun also knows about the hack on the network. Secretary Cha is nervous about her knowing about the secret, but President Park is certain honesty is the best policy and gives her a break down on the security issues.

Episode 4, “Confessions” diverts its attention on Han Na-Kyung (Kang Han-Na) who interviews Oh Yeon-seok to see if he remembers anything about the explosion. Designated Survivor: 60 Days is doing its best to hone in on the story surrounding Han while the politics play out. Han Na-Kyung figures out that Oh Yeon-seok was not in the same place he claimed to be after pinpointing where he was rescued. There are a minute and 35 seconds unaccounted for. They find video footage from someone’s cloud. He was not at his seat during the main assembly.

Park’s problems mount in “Confessions”. The army finds out the location of Hyun Mae-jun, the man accused of planting a video in their network. General Lee wants to send troops to Cambodia to extract the suspect, but President Park does not want to risk security. General Lee is not happy.

Designated Survivor: 60 Days Episode 4, “Confessions” ends badly for Acting President Park as he agrees to do a live interview.  He’s calm while his advisors are panicking. The interview goes swimmingly until the interviewer asks if it is true that he was meant to be dismissed by the deceased President before the explosion. After a tense few minutes, he admits it. Meanwhile, General Lee is going against the President’s decision.
