I’ve never experienced a Freaky Tuesday before so this is a first.

Episode 5 starts with some good news. Since the death of Sandy’s father figure Bernie, in his memory, she has decided to extend GLOW’s contract in Vegas for another nine months. As it’s Bash’s production, he is eager to extend instantly, but Debbie isn’t — understandably, she is worried about losing out on her child. Debbie approaches Sandy about it but realizes that this is business, and there’s this expectation that if she wants to be a producer, she needs to be prepared for it.

But leading up to the potential last ever show, Tammé’s back is not in a good place. She has spent weeks drinking wine to numb the pain and having hot showers to try and ease the nerves. But it isn’t getting better. To try and disguise it, she asks the women if they could all switch roles, hence the name Freaky Tuesday. Episode 5 provides a funny 10 minutes watching the women all take on each other’s characters, and surprisingly it works, with Sandy and the audience impressed.

In the audience is Justine, Sam’s daughter. She’s decided to spend her Spring Break in Vegas, and she has asked her father to read her screenplay. Sam is noticeably nervous about providing constructive criticism on the screenplay and asks Ruth if she can read it to help.

GLOW Season 3, Episode 5, “Freaky Tuesday” ends with plenty of praise from Sandy, and Bash announces GLOW is to stay in Vegas until the end of the year. Debbie is understandably upset, but Bash is adamant it will be staying — he makes his mark by saying if anyone wants to leave, they can.

Spandex Stories

  • Sheila decides to take on Liza Minnelli in the Freaky Tuesday — the character looks set to come out of her shell and try new roles.
  • Ruth seemed a little surprised by Sam’s request of reading Justine’s screenplay — I think she expected it to be about Sam’s screenplay.
