Summary
GLOW Season 3, Episode 7, “Hollywood Homecoming” holds some impressive performances — a chapter less about wrestling, but it works.
After the camping episode, “Hollywood Homecoming” progresses the father-daughter relationship between Sam and Justin. Sam has arranged exec meetings with reputable film production companies, convincing them to review his daughter’s script.
Episode 7 also sees how Debbie is coping with her toddler living in Vegas; it seems she took Ruth’s advice and moved her child to where she works rather than quitting her ambitions of becoming a rising producer. It’s fair to say that it looks like a terrible idea, especially when her little one goes down the elevator on their own, and toddles around the Casino floor. The shock and horror on Debbie’s face were understandable, but it did spark a new potential relationship for her, as she bumps into a man that she met on the plane previously, and they hit it off instantly.
We haven’t had much development on Bash and Rhonda in the third season — I believe their marriage is going to end in tears. Bash’s mother Birdie arrives in Vegas in “Hollywood Homecoming”, and she is hot on Rhonda’s heels, trying to understand her motives and reasons for marrying her son. Rhonda manages to gain Birdie’s approval by being frankly honest. However, the moment that grabbed me by surprise is that the family lawyer released all his inheritance money to Bash. He’s irresponsible, so this is a story that is going to end shambolically.
Let’s revert to Justin and Sam in Episode 7. Their meetings are mostly successful, barring one where the exec was trying to gain revenge on Sam so proceeds in ripping his CV up for a few minutes just for satisfaction. Their third meeting sparked an excellent performance from Britt Baron, who plays Justine. She goes into monologue mode, describing how she met her father and how her time in high school inspired her to write the script. While this is happening, Sam is experiencing cardiac arrest, but rather than warning Justine, he asks her to celebrate her successful meeting with someone else.
When Sam gets to the hospital he is asked to lay off the alcohol and cigarettes, but when he gets back to Justine’s place, she makes him aware that the deal she made with the production company stated that he must direct the film; he celebrates by pouring them both a drink.
GLOW Season 3, Episode 7, “Hollywood Homecoming” produced some worthwhile moments for our characters.

- Jenny asks for a pay rise for the costume work, and Debbie and Bash approve it.
- Sam never addressed the Ruth situation, which could mean that they still haven’t spoken since the wrestlers went camping.
