The finale episode of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 1 brings a sense of community, a combined union ready to fight a war; a real flavor of good versus evil. As Episode 10 begins, you see that Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel) is slowly becoming consumed by the Darkening, but Rian (Taron Egerton) is distracted, as Brea (Alice Dinnean) returns, and Maudra Fara’s (Lena Headey) group turns up to fight the battle.

The Emperor and the Skeksis prepare for the battle. The Emperor bastes himself in the Darkening in Episode 10, ready to use it for his advantage in battle.

What’s terrific about the finale, “A Single Piece Was Lost”, was how it showed the Gelfling preparing for war. They thoroughly understood the height and size differences and planned the entire battle to ensure they had a high chance of victory. As the Skeksis set off for war, The Scientist sees The Hunter wake up.

As for the Battle itself, there is a lot of standing around at first, with the Skeksis cackling away; Rian steps up and fights, and realizes the Dual Glaive sucks the life out of the Skeksis. While the fighting ensues, the Chamberlain kills the General, and injuries occur on both sides. As all hope appears to be lost for the Gelfling, The Archer senses the pain occurring, and throws himself off a cliff — this brings back the Aughra, reborn, forcing one of the Skeksis to dust.

But the Emperor refuses to give up, but he did not account for what happens next; Sifa, Drench, Spriton, Grottan, Dousan, Vapra, and the Arathim all turn up ready to fight in the battle. All the clans Rian asked for showed up.

In a last-ditch effort, The Emperor tries to use the power of the Darkening on the Gelfling, but Deet manages to stop it with the power she has already consumed and throws the energy back at the Skeksis — one of the Skeksis’ heads explodes, and they immediately retreat. The Gelfling win the battle.

While everyone celebrates, Brea finds the lost shard of The Crystal of Truth — Auhgra declares it belongs to the Gelfling and hypothesizes a new future, a new enemy, a new world.

Rian notices Deet went missing soon after the battle; he eventually finds Deet, her eyes full of purple representing the Darkening — she walks away, and the Darkening follows her aura, with trees closing around her as she walks her past. It may be too late for Deet.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 1, Episode 10, “A Single Piece Was Lost” ends with the Skeksis back at the castle distraught at their defeat. However, The Scientist has been busy — he has created a new weapon called the Garthim, created from a dead Arathim.
