The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance drops the pleasantries and builds up the beginnings of war in Episode 6, “By Gelfling Hand…”. It begins with Brea (Alice Dinnean) getting sent to Crystal Castle, but her loyal Lore breaks out of his chamber to help her. At first, the Paladins are wary of Rian (Taron Egerton) due to the rumors, but the truths come out — the time of the Skeksis needs to be over. The Gelfling shame The Chamberlain (Simon Pegg), sending him back to his castle.

There’s time for grieving in Episode 6; at the campfire late at night, Brea discusses her mother, and Rian speaks of his father. Their parent’s deaths have been appropriately addressed for the first time, after a rocky ride since escaping the Skeksis. Seladon (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) runs her own funeral for her mother, ready to embark on an era of new leadership.

Brea, Rian, and the others must cross the desert to reach The Circle of the Suns — a near-impossible mission. Rek’yr (Theo James) agrees to help escort them on their mission — Rian is hesitant at first, but Brea trusts to him.

Meanwhile, the Skeksis agree with The General’s (Benedict Wong) deeds to killing All-Maudra, and hail “ruling forever”, much to the shock of The Chamberlain, who is mocked for stinking after being shamed by the Gelfling.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 1, Episode 6, “By Gelfling Hand…” ends with the news of The General’s deed spreading. Seladon calls the other Maudras to the Citadel. Maudra Fara (Lena Headey) tries to warn Seladon of the Skeksis, but her taste for power has overridden rationality. Fara and Drenchen withhold their approval to make her All-Maudra, with cries of war. Fara challenges for the crown, but Seladon creates her own and asks Fara to bow down before attacking her, and forces her former ally out of the castle. Seladon is far too gone.
