It’s not getting any better for the Gelfling in Episode 8 as the Skeksis’ plan begins to show the true extent of their evil.

But first up is Seladon in “Prophets Don’t Know Everything”, who has consumed her power and betrayed her people. She visits Fara Maudra’s village and sees the devastation caused. Seladon (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) dismisses Auhgra’s (Donna Kimball) claims and states that she will negotiate peace. Seladon is brainwashed; the character continues to fall further into destruction. Before Seladon sets off to the Castle of the Crystal, Aughra plants an eye on her.

Deet leads Rian through the tunnels of Thra in hope to meet their objective and search for the Dual Glaive. When they reach the caves, they learn that Deet’s family is in danger, and her brother has been taken over by the Arathim. They eventually find Deet’s family, and Rian negotiates with the Arathim to fight with the Gelfling. Advantage Gelfling.

As Rian and Deet find answers, The Scientist is using the horrifying machine on several Gefling to draw out as much essence as possible.

Seladon visits the Castle of the Crystal and quickly learns that the Skeksis are not on her side. She asks for mercy, but they admit to draining Gelfling, unashamedly caring less of what outsiders think. Seladon shockingly offers seven of her own Gelfling for a new age, but they mock her and strip her fancy clothes.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season 1, Episode 8, “Prophets Don’t Know Everything” ends with The Darkening attacking The Sanctuary Tree — the Tree gives its power to Deet, and she uses her ability to heal a nurloc.
