What does Captain Marvel 2 have to do with Avengers Annual #10?

So with Captain Marvel 2 in production, there have been a couple of slow leaks that the comic book industry is more interested in than the movie world. The news itself seems only mildly interesting, but a closer look from another angle may give a few hidden insights from comic and movie fans. And it has to do with the king-size Avengers Annual #10.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Now it seems that a certain comic book has been gaining a lot of attention on eBay recently, and as usual this happens when a comic has ties to an upcoming movie, causing its price to spike.

The comic in question that is raising eyebrows, is the King Size Avengers Annual #10 from 1981 and features the first appearance of Rogue. This book has always been a great seller, but the prices are increasing as speculators believe that Rogue from X-Men will be the antagonist in the new Captain Marvel movie.

The comic features a battle between the two characters, but the interesting thing here is the long term ramifications of Rogue appearing here.

This will, of course, be the introduction of mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this will no doubt lead the way into the Marvel X-Men reboot.

Keep your eyes open for Avengers Annual #10, and if you get a cheap copy, there’s a good chance the price will increase as the film’s debut approaches.

On the other hand, it might go down in price if there is no interest in the movie. Speculation is a funny old game.
