As things continue to look shaky for DC Comics, there was incredible news tonight that long-time publisher of DC Comics Dan DiDio has left the company.

Last year we reported on DC Comics being taken over by AT&T, and later this year many of the characters such as Batman are being re-booted as DC launches what was originally to be called Generation 5, or 5G.

This latest proposed re-launch will see some of DC’s biggest properties such as Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern being replaced by a new cast of characters.

DiDio was behind many of the major shakeups at DC, including the ill-fated New 52, but over his long tenure in the position, he became the Stan Lee of DC.

DiDio was with the company for nearly two decades, but recent events lead people to think that either the new 5G direction has pushed DiDio from his role, or the other option is he has been made redundant.

Whatever the reason for his departure, it does not bode well for the company that has already seen a decline in the number of comics it releases every month and sales of comics in general in decline.

If we hear of further developments in this story we will keep you up to date.
