Summary

If you opened up the comedian’s head and looked inside, The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show would be what you are faced with, which is not a bad thing.

The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show season 1 will be released on Netflix on April 1, 2020 – add it to your list now.

There is one thing that you cannot doubt Iliza Shlesinger for — her work rate. As a supporter of her early days, where her stand-ups have gone from strength to strength, it has been clear that Iliza just wants it. She has a natural ability in comedy, evolving her jokes and social commentary with the times, and recently proceeding to discuss her married life in her recent Netflix stand-up. The quirky, diverse comedian proves the mantra that if you continue to work hard, you’ll achieve. The comedian will not think that The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show will elevate her to the next level, but it’s another addition to her bulking CV that I am sure will continue to track on an upwards trajectory.

The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show is purely the comedian’s imagination folded into bite-sized episodes. It is Iliza having fun. She often discusses various scenarios in her stand-ups, i.e. a female being “the dude” in a relationship — well, the comedian puts that into a small, funny sketch in this Netflix series. If you could open up Iliza’s head and look inside at what she’s thinking, The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show is likely to what you’ll be confronted with, and that’s not a bad idea, at all.

The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show is highly creative, fast-paced and offers sly social commentary for good measure. There’s a sketch in particular where women have to attend a meeting, and the whole purpose is that they must think less of themselves and devalue their worth — the man leads the session. Amongst the ridiculously crazy gags, you’ll occasionally be smirking at the comedian’s views on the world.

I guess fans will be wondering if The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show will come back for a Season 2. The series feels like Iliza disposing of all her creative outlets, letting it all out at once for the purpose of her own, reactive and performative imagination. It would not surprise me if this is a one-off, but I doubt many would grumble if we got more.

And during times of staying in our homes for the purpose of keeping everyone safe, Netflix’s The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show is the kind of crazy, fast type of comedy that we need.
