What’s the premise of Soul City?

Soul City is an anthology series in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt that exposes the multicultural world of a select American city and its urban population through the lens of psychological horror stories. Season One is set in New Orleans and is helmed by creators and directors Coodie and Chike, the acclaimed directors of Kanye West’s Through the Wire music video and ESPN’s 30 for 30 film Benji. Episodes feature Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar), Chad Coleman (The Wire), and PJ Morton (Maroon 5).

Who are the filmmakers Coodie & Chike?

Coodie & Chike’s first collaboration, in 2004, resulted in a chart-topping video, catapulting the career of Kanye West. The duo continued collaborating with high-profile artists like Pitbull, Erykah Badu, and Ed Sheeran, among others. They formed “Creative Control” and directed award-winning projects, including the ESPN 30-for-30 “BENJI” and “Muhammad Ali: The People’s Champ,” winner of the 2016 NAACP Image Award. Most recently, “A KID FROM CONEY ISLAND” world-premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim.
