Brews Brothers season 1, episode 1, “The Brothers Rodman” is a good opener for the Netflix comedy series, introducing the intense brothers.
This recap of Netflix series Brews Brothers season 1, episode 1, “The Brothers Rodman” contains significant spoilers.
The opening of Brews Brothers gives the audience a distinct idea of the type of comedy we are facing. Wilhelm Rodman runs his own brewery, which is mostly mistaken for a sex store because of the way he names his beers and the promotions. In fact, Wilhelm is not the greatest businessman to grace the world; it is failing and he needs a new distributor, especially with an eviction notice sitting on his lap due to unpaid rent.
We also have a food van outside of the brewery run by two social ideologists who constantly have sex and hygiene issues seem to not be considered. For a first episode, this was a funny opening.
And then enter Wilhelm’s brother Adam, who is equally as bad at business as Wilhelm; he spends most of his time being rude and obnoxious, narcissistically claiming to be smarter than everyone and due to a rivalry with his brother, they haven’t spoken in years. Due to his failing business, Adam has decided to team up with Wilhelm on his brewery and make it a success.
So the brothers require a distributor, which usually means impressing a potential client with a selection of beers. After Adam scared the distributor away the first time, Sarah, one of the colleagues, manages to secure another interview with him; the challenge is that Adam and Wilhelm have to make a new beer, so they make it into a competition to see who can impress the distributor.
This turns into an extremely long, competitive gag where Adam ends up e*********g due to Wilhelm’s dog licking his face. Adam likes to “edge” himself for 30 days, so this was premature.
Brews Brothers season 1, episode 1, “The Brothers Rodman” ends with the distributor tasting the two new beers and Wilhelm’s beer wins. The distributor wants to buy loads of kegs across various restaurants. But Adam breaks it to Wilhelm that he urinated in his beer. There’s just not enough urine in the world to make up for the volume.
Let’s hope the Netflix series continues in the same vein.
