How does Central Park season 1, episode 2, “Skater’s Circle” open?
It begins with Owen struggling to get ready for work and Cole is heartbroken about the dog still. Owen has a video call with the Park League which is why he’s having a breakdown. Owen videos into the call and they ask about the mugging and he reveals he isn’t wearing any pants. While drawing her comics at school, Molly asks Cole about his heartbreak and compares it to her crush. Cole says it isn’t comparable — Molly breaks into a song about being more confident and less anxious; she wants to be a superhero.
Owen investigates the mugging at the park after it was raised by the Park League and thinks it happened because it’s so quiet. Birdie tells Owen that it may be quiet because he pushed away the skater Glorious Gary for not “respecting the park”. Owen walks out of the park to go meet him. Meanwhile, Paige is trying to cover stories at the City Hall. When Owen meets Gary they end up arguing so no progress is made.
Bitsy is up to no good
Bitsy is preparing for a wealthy investor meeting. She gives them a speech about the best real estate deal in the world. The investors ask why she’s attached to her dog. The investors continue talking and Bitsy sings a song about no-one hearing her and being an outcast — the song turns into getting payback.
Getting the dog back
Molly wants to help Cole get his dog back and head to the hotel. Molly causes a distraction. When Cole is in the hotel he acts like he is rich. Cole is caught and kicked out and he’s heartbroken. Cole howls at the hotel and Champagne howls back — he sings about how the dog remembers him and Molly sings about being a superhero. Birdie brings Owen and Glorious Gary together to make up. Owen offers to skate with the skater making that area of the park happy again.
How does Central Park season 1, episode 2, “Skater’s Circle” end?
Paige learns at the City Hall that the Central Park League contract is up for debate after a Councilman says no to renewing the contract. She leaves Owen a voicemail about it. Bitsy tells investors that the Central Park League contract is on hold and if the funds are on hold then the park starts to die, meaning they can invest their projects on the land. Owen skates with Gary and the other skaters, bursting into song, completely unaware that the park is under threat.
