How does Central Park season 1, episode 3, “Hat Luncheon” open?
It opens with Birdie giving an update on the park contract and how it’s all to do with rich people. Paige is trying to figure out why one of the council people said no to the contract. Owen is preparing a speech for a dedicated worker that is retiring but historically all his speeches have been terrible. Cole asks if there will be good ice cream at the Hat Luncheon this year. Paige breaks into a song, taking her kids with her on her investigative journalism. Central Park season 1, episode 3, “Hat Luncheon” gets to the heart of the corruption.
The Hat Luncheon
Bitsy is planning to attend the Hat Luncheon to make a wedge between City Hall and the Park League. Paige meets councilman Leo about his vote to say no in a sauna. Leo tells Paige that the mayor told him to but it’s off the record. The Hat Luncheon starts and Owen is nervous for his speech and breaks into a song about it. Paige tries to speak to the mayor but she’s shut down by the communications director. Bitsy starts twisting things between Park League and City Hall. Meanwhile, Cole helps Molly stalk Brendan — they agree to get ice cream together.
Bitsy and the mayor are flirting with corruption and while Owen gives his speech, Bitsy twists things even more; City Hall and the Park League start arguing between each other. They end up fighting and throwing food. Paige tries to get a quote from a nervous Mayor — he says “we think we can do better” and Paige helps him escape.

Brendan asks Molly for her phone number — she kisses him and his face starts swelling up; she ate peanut butter ice cream and he’s allergic to nuts. Owen finishes his speech to the tired attendees at the Hat Luncheon, making it his best ever speech.
