Summary

Taste The Nation with Padma Lakshmi is a delightful entry to the streaming platform, bringing food and culture but also a genuine attempt to educate.

Hulu series Taste The Nation with Padma Lakshmi season 1 will be released on the platform on June 19, 2020.

What we enjoyed about Somebody Feed Phil is the enthusiasm to experience new foods and cultures; Phil does not profess to be an expert in either — he’s a tourist ready to embark on new journeys. Hulu’s throw at the dice for a new food show, Taste The Nation with Padma Lakshmi, is similar in many ways; Padma’s enthusiasm is brimming, but her aura does not bring the tourism vibe, rather there is a focused approach to the series, with an aim to be thought-provoking and educational. Both series’ are important and serve a similar message but Taste The Nation is evidently more objective.

For example, the first episode sees Padma Lakshmi in El Paso, where its border location defines its identity and America’s complex political landscape. Padma eats and travels through the border while also understanding the origins, while carefully linking it to the food she is eating; the first episode is politically inclined and educational at the same time, tampering with the ever-debated subjects of America’s border control — and the central point is Burritos. This is the type of series we are dealing with. You are learning more than just food.

Taste The Nation with Padma Lakshmi continues its charm in the 10-chapter series, from hotdogs to chop suey, the television host and author navigates many layers in various nations. It’s quite clear the host wanted more than just a food experience — she wants to learn with the viewers. Hulu series Taste The Nation with Padma Lakshmi season 1 is a delightful entry to the streaming platform, bringing food and culture while bringing a genuine attempt to educate.
