The Titan Games season 2, episode 8 recap - the beasts from the East
3.5

Summary

The East has some ordinary working-class beasts who prove themselves freak athletes against elite competition.

This recap of The Titan Games season 2, episode 8 contains spoilers.

We enter the final region for more Dwayne Johnson self-aggrandizement, which means a new crop of contestants and two new Titans — Olympic snowboarding champion Hannah Teter and former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley.

Cynthia Gauthier, a monster truck driver, and Haley Johnson, an Army nurse, kick-off proceedings. The latter has a tragic backstory, having risen from a cycle of poverty and lost her father to aggressive brain cancer, so I think it’s safe to say everyone will be rooting for her. The first game is Chain Linked. Haley takes an early lead, but she hesitates when she needs to make the jump, giving Cynthia an opportunity to get ahead. Luckily Haley is still able to secure a victory. 1-0.

Will Sutton, a high school agriculture teacher who couldn’t be any more charismatic or country if he tried, and Kareem Brinson, a DJ, square off for Nuts & Bolts. Will goes for the rope super early, and it’s far too heavy. He has to return to the weights, now at a disadvantage, and Kareem is able to take the advantage to secure the victory.

Time for Kick Out with Cynthia and Haley. Haley does better than I think I’ve ever seen anyone do at this game and wins very comfortably.

Lunar Impact is up next for Will and Kareem. Will gets up the ladder like a rat up a drainpipe and absolutely powers the wall all the way to end. Kareem doesn’t stand a chance. I think that’s the fastest round of that game I’ve ever seen.

With the boys at 1-1, it’s time for a tie-breaker with the Herculean Pull. They’re neck and neck on the golden pole. Kareem falls! Will wins! Country strong all the way.

It’s time for Mount Olympus. Haley takes on Hannah Teter. Hannah falls behind instantly by struggling with the box flip. Haley struggles on the log lift. Hannah, though, has a very noticeable strength disadvantage, and it gives Haley plenty of time to casually dig the relic out and take the comfortable victory.

Will takes on Tyron Woodley to close out The Titan Games season 2, episode 8. Will sets off like a bat out of Hell, taking a substantial lead early. And it’s a lead he never lets go of. A solid victory for Will Sutton. Country strength reigns supreme.
