How does Transformers: War for Cybertron season 1 (Siege), episode 2 open?

Megatron has a visitor that walks slowly into his territory with a cloak on. Megatron approaches and it’s revealed that it is Ultra Magnus — he’s surrendering to Megatron.

Surrender and peace

Magnus reminds Megatron of the time they saved each other’s lives in battle as brothers — “I’ve grown weary of endless war”. Magnus wants to sit together as a three to settle their grudges. Megatron refuses to consider peace negotiations and asks Jetfire to put Magnus in a cell. Megatron is not fooling around — he wants destruction.

We will win this war

Back at Prime HQ, everyone is panicking that Ultra Magnus has betrayed everyone but Prime does not feel that is so. He promotes Elita as second-in-command and states that he believes they will win this war.

We must find it first

Megatron is alerted by Shockwave that they’ve found Allspark, the powerful energy source of Cybertron, and if altered, it can reformat the Autobots to Decepticons — Magnus overhears and sends out a message to the Autobots. Megatron considers it as an option. Optimus Prime states they need to find Allspark first — he puts squads together to look at each sector. Meanwhile, Megatron learns that Prime is looking for the Allspark and they should help him find it.

What are we fighting for?

Elita tells Prime that looking for a long-lost relic feels like an old fool’s errand. She’s not sure what they are fighting for anymore. Prime states it is a life worth fighting for. Prime always talks in absolutes, as does Megatron — while everyone else rightfully questions the tactics.

An ambush

Prime gets some coordinates but it’s a trap by Megatron. As Prime and Elita enter a sector, Elita feels like it is a trap. Prime finds some highly concentrated Energon and they are ambushed by Decepticons.

Elita tells the Autobots to retreat. They return to HQ and Cog is hurt and there were casualties. Elita tells Prime that they will need time to recover for this and they don’t have the resources but Prime still wants to find the Allspark. They are low on Energon but Prime wants to keep searching.

How does Transformers: War for Cybertron season 1 (Siege), episode 2 end.

Megatron is annoyed that the purified Energon got away but neither the Autobots nor Decepticons have it. Ultra Magnus refuses to tell Megatron where Prime is. Megatron tells Shockwave to implement his plan to reformat the Autobots. Magnus asks about honor but Megatron states that honor will not win this war. Episode 2 shows a predictable ambush by the Decepticons as the war gets more violent.
