It’s the morning after the night before in Get Even episode 7, and with Mika having put Ronny on blast, DGM deduces that Rex has his laptop, leading Olivia to go and investigate. However, she’s waylaid by Amber, and Rex is called away. It’s halfway through Olivia’s conversation with Amber that “Get Out of Hand” reveals the important news – Mika is dead. Apparently it was an accident, but we know better.

The reaction to Mika’s death is telling. People compare the likes they received on social media for the public grief, while DGM offers a minute’s silence in the gym. There’s a bit of relationship development between Bree and John, and things get weird between Kitty and Donte – she gets disqualified for losing her cool during fencing and tries to kiss him, but he’s having none of it.

The big clash of Get Even season 1, episode 7 is between Olivia and Amber, who have a major public to-do. That’s the thing about high-school fall-outs – everyone has to know about them. While this show isn’t as single-mindedly focused on social media and the teenage ecosystem as something like, say, Control Z, it makes some stinging points about the sheer inability of any relationship to remain private.

Privacy is also a tough challenge when DGM is knocking around, but I suppose that’s a good thing. Bree, Olivia, and Margot meet in the cinema to discuss Rex not really being a viable suspect anymore, which means we need a new one. The hard drive provides – since it turns out that Ronny was catfishing Christopher, and some incriminating photos are floating around, we suddenly have a new potential killer right after a brand new victim. As we race towards the end of the season, the stakes are higher than ever, and the truth is just as elusive.
