The opening

As usual, Coach is getting angry during the game which leads to the mascot getting very hurt. Afterwards, basketball team player Scott breaks up with his boyfriend Neil.

Counselling

The Mascots’ Union is annoyed with Coach and is fretting to boycott games. Coach has to go to anger management. Coach goes to see Dawa, an anger management counsellor — it’s all very Zen. Ben just wants Dawa to sign the paper.

You are straight

Scott is getting bullied by Neil’s friends and they are accusing him of not being gay. Matty defends Scott and states there’s nothing wrong with being straight. Scott insists he’s just not into Neil.

Scott’s friends and Neil’s friend arrange to fight and they all meet shirtless in the back alley. Scott’s friends lose easily.

Coach wants to take it further

Opal sends Coach back to the Zen classes. Coach seems to embrace it more the second time. However, he ends up getting drowsy and asks Dawa for a psychedelic — it’s frog urine. Coach starts tripping; in his trip, he feels he has to save Shannon and becomes a cowboy. He ends up killing his own ego. Coach meets Little Man Tate — his trip tells him to chill out. This spurs on a change in the story very briefly where we get a calm Coach.

New coach

Coach’s trip ends and he throws up. He passes his anger management class. On the way home, he’s zen and he sees Ron’s secret birthday party that he wasn’t invited to; he isn’t angry which shocks Shannon. He also tells his father that he loves him. The next day, Coach tries to defend Scott from Neil but his zen state doesn’t really do anything.

The ending

During the game, Coach is slowly getting angry at Neil bullying Scott and he blows up. He also shouts at Shannon for not inviting him to Ron’s birthday party. He’s back! Episode 6 shows a briefly different Coach but obviously, it doesn’t last long.
