Inui asks Haida if he likes her and he hesitates — she confirms she likes him and walks off. At work the next day, Inui blanks him and Fenneko theorises that she suspects that she senses Retsuko was in his apartment beforehand — Inui doesn’t know where she stands. Haida feels guilty about the situation. There’s this sense that maybe the character should be careful what he wishes for and has a romance with the woman that actually likes him.
Meanwhile, Ton’s daughters are obsessed with the OTM Girls group and they listen to all their songs. Ton grabs Komiya and shares how his daughter has a keen interest in underground idols. While working in a store, a colleague asks Manaka if she will be quitting once she becomes an idol.
You’ll have to make a choice
At work, Tom offers to cover Retsuko’s debt. She doesn’t want to accept it because she’s chasing her dreams with her friends. Ton asks Retsuko what her main job is and asks why she’s falling asleep during the day. He then watches a video of OTM Girls and tells her that she will need to make a choice eventually. Retsuko explains that when the time comes, she’ll hand in her two weeks’ notice. As she walks out, she smiles. This was a brilliant moment for the character who has found a meaningful purpose.
A timing issue
Manaka rings Retsuko about the fake account for OTM Girls. There are photos of Retsuko in public. Meanwhile, Haida tries to speak to Inui on the train platform — he apologizes to her about the other day but she puts it down to a timing issue and references Retsuko. She tells him to make his mind up before time runs out. Well, she laid down the rules — Haida needs to make his mind up now.
Retsuko is worried that they’ll find her address based on the social media photos. Suddenly, Retsuko is not bothered about her privacy and believes this is what her life was meant to be. She enjoys the admirations and the warmheartedness of the audience. One fan has bought 100 tickets for 3-second handshakes which equal to 300 seconds. The fan who got the 300 seconds criticizes her and has five minutes holding her hand. Well, be careful what you wish for. Aggretsuko season 3, episode 9, “The End of the Moratorium”, sees career choices and Haida having to make a big decision.
