Summary

“The Revenge of the Chichester Widow” gives the routine cursed doll storyline which doesn’t really improve the story.

This recap of Amazon original series Truth Seekers season 1, episode 6, “The Revenge of the Chichester Widow” contains significant spoilers.

We recapped every episode — check out the archive.

The opening

“The Revenge of the Chichester Widow” begins in the past at the Chichester Institute for the Criminally Insane. A woman is getting dragged from her cell — Mary Anne Colford apparently murdered many men, and the institute wants to execute her without trial. They call her a witch as she tries to perform an incantation on the priest. Her spirit ends up inside the small doll that the priest was holding.

We have a typical cursed doll story on our hands.

A new site survey is needed

Dave wants Gus to go to Chichester as they need 100% coverage — Elton asks if they need the coverage so they can control everyone, an idea given to him by Jojo74. Gus is interested in the former of the Chichester Institute that’s now home to flashy apartments — it needs a site survey.

Peter doesn’t like the digital age it seems

Peter Toynbee rings Wendy from Portland Beacon regarding an email from her. He wants to know what brought her to the digital age — Wendy explains that a broadband company named Smyl sorted them out.

Peter seems irked by the advancement of broadband coverage, but he is keeping his cards close to his chest.

The live stream

Astrid, Gus, and Elton head to the Chichester Institute. The trio decides to live stream their survey with Helen helping the technical side. Astrid and Gus split up in the institute while Elton stays in the van. Richard brings up how Gus’s wife died and that she was his daughter — Richard is not Gus’s dad. It’s quite a brief emotional moment. Hannah explains how Elton got all the attention when younger.

The feed stops

Astrid finds loads of tools and finds a diary by a Dr. Kettering. Inside there are some graphic drawings of naked people getting killed. Helen and Richard lose Gus’s feed.

A female spirit then torments Gus. Outside, Elton asks the property developer if there have been any expansions recently as Gus has found a new part of the building. The property developer seems unaware of this expansion. The doll from the start of the episode moves towards Gus. The others find Gus, and he tells them the doll is possessed — he’s absolutely shaken from a small doll that’s climbing on his chest.

The ending

The property developer picks up the doll, and he seems possessed by it, but the others haven’t noticed as they drive away from the institute.

The property developer burns the doll and then injures himself severely. As “The Revenge of the Chichester Widow” ends, Gus notices a young version of Elton in the magazine “The White Sheet”. Another twist, ladies and gentlemen.

Truth Seekers season 1, episode 6 gives the routine cursed doll storyline which doesn’t really improve the story.

Additional points
  • Richard and Helen continue socializing with each other. Helen tells Richard that she edits Gus’s videos for YouTube.
  • Peter Toynbee checks out Gus’s YouTube channel and researches him.
