Alien Xmas reminds us that we all have that spirit within us at an important time of year.

This review of Netflix film Alien Xmas contains no spoilers. The family animation was released on the streaming service on November 20, 2020

I know I am repeating myself in every single review, but Netflix is really ripping home Christmas this year. If we thought we could escape the holiday season due to the restrictive circumstances, then the streaming service has proved us all wrong. From Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey to Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square, there is every genre covered, and now the platform has nestled something for the kids — Alien Xmas.

Netflix’s Alien Xmas is hardly a groundbreaking story of love and tragedy at Christmas time, but it does bring to light the togetherness of the season. The story follows Santa, who tells the kids a story about an alien who visited earth on Christmas. The alien is on its own mission to steal, however, the more it learns about the festive season, the sooner it warms and softens to it. It’s the Scrooge story with extraterrestrial magic for good measure.

Like all movies at this time of year, Alien Xmas is all about the power of Christmas spirit. The alien is so confined to its mission to steal that it finds itself conflicted by the magic around him. Children will watch this film and be reminded of the importance of loved ones, and not just the excitement of opening presents. While Alien Xmas is not really a family get-together experience, it’s definitely a movie that can be on in the background while your children watch it with their consuming eyes.

Alien Xmas reminds us that we all have that spirit within us at an important time of year.
