This recap of Netflix K-Drama series Lovestruck in the City episode 6 contains significant spoilers.

The opening

At the start of the episode, the question is asked — are you comfortable with your lover being friends with the opposite sex? As usual, a range of answers is given. The episode then talks about being friends and turning it into a relationship. The audience is then given a flashback; Choi Kyeong-jun is protesting with a few kids, and Sun Rin-i joins him. He’s defending a playground that is due to be removed for a new building. Episode 6 is shaking the story up a little, introducing and delving into other relationships and showing audiences how these characters are interconnected.

A slow burner

From here, Sun Rin-i and Choi Kyeong-jun kept running into each other. It was a friendship that didn’t materialise into a relationship at first. In the present day, Sun Rin-i explains how she kept teasing him, telling him she was going on a date. Episode 6 is showing a slow burn relationship. On the blind dates, she’d abandoned the person she’s dating and met up with Choi Kyeong-jun. But they kept it platonic with neither of them making the final move. It’s a cute story.

Finally asking her out

In 2013, Choi Kyeong-jun had to look after his sick grandmother, so Sun Rin-i made sure she was there for him. In 2014, Choi Kyeong-jun returned from the army — he gives her hints that he’s had a crush on her for a very long time — he asks her out, but she thinks he’s practicing to tell his crush. Choi Kyeong-jun gets to the point and asks her again. In the present day, Jae-won is skeptical about waiting many years to be with someone.

Game of cards

Episode 6 then gives an in-depth game of cards…

Lee Eun-o meets her friends Choi Kyeong-jun and Sun Rin-i. They play cards and her flatmate Geon joins in. The final round is between Sun Rin-i and Lee Eun-o. Lee Eun-o wins the game and after, she tells the audience that she broke up with Jae-won because her friends didn’t know she was using the alias Seon-a. She has many reasons at this point, but none feel reasonable.

The ending

After the game of cards ends, Jae-won rings Choi Kyeong-jun, and he heads over to the apartment — the series is now starting to show how connected these characters are. Lee Eun-o panics when she hears Jae-won’s name. When he gets to the house, Lee Eun-o runs outside and shows herself in front of his car before running off. He runs after her, but he quickly loses her. She will not be able to avoid him forever. They have mutual friends. She then reveals why she stole the cameras — she learned that Jae-won is Choi Kyeong-jun’s cousin. She didn’t want him to see the photos when produced by Jae-won.

As the episode starts closing out, Jae-won drowns his sorrows at the bar. He wants to find Lee Eun-o and get his cameras back. Extremely drunk, he goes to the police station and tells them to catch the camera thief.
