Summary

Episode 10 ironically brings both lead characters’ worlds closer together, while at the same time pulling them more apart, making it agonizing for the audience.

This recap of Netflix K-Drama series Lovestruck in the City episode 10 contains significant spoilers.

After an emotional previous chapter, episode 10 gets into the weeds. Lee Eun-o is a broken woman, and we are starting to see her and Jae-won’s world starting to merge via family and mutual friends. It’s only a matter of time.

At the start of episode 10, Lee Eun-o tries to get her surfboard back. The man she gave it to is frustrated that she keeps asking for it back. She approaches him in the toilets and offers to pay for it – she acts crazy to scare him and shows him the wedding rings, which aren’t really legal wedding rings. She then goes on a long emotional rant about her feelings for Jae-won before stating the surfboard is a precious memory to her. The man gives up and returns the surfboard.

Jae-won is down about the situation

As for Jae-won, he is still downbeat and shocked that Lee Eun-o lied about her name. He wanted her to run into arms like she did when they were near the beach; if she did, he would have embraced her. He’s gutted that she isn’t Yoon Seon-a.

Checking up on Jae-won

Choi Kyeong-jun checks up on Jae-won after hearing he caught the “camera thief”. Jae-won isn’t in the mood to talk about it asks him to leave. However, his cousin brings food and doesn’t give up. Jae-won reveals that it was all a lie, and her name is fake; he doesn’t remember her real name, so he doesn’t know he has mutual friends with Lee Eun-o. At the same time, Lee Eun-o has to hear about her friends talk about the “camera thief” which irritates her. Geon reckons the woman should go to jail. It’s weird how both characters haven’t figured out that their worlds are connected at this point, but it keeps the story interesting.

A video message

Jae-won sends a video message to Lee Eun-o via reality TV. He tells her he cannot forgive her right now but that he’s sorry for calling her a “horrible woman”. Lee Eun-o watches the message, and she’s heartbroken. Jae-won vows to pretend that they broke up at the beach.

Geon has concerns about Lee Eun-o

Geon speaks to Sun Rin-i and Choi Kyeong-jun about Lee Eun-o; he tells them that she’s been acting strange recently and randomly crying. A scene shows them both watching an action film together, and Lee Eun-o bursts into tears — it wasn’t even a sad film. Geon also overheard Lee Eun-o talking to herself in the bathroom, calling herself a “terrible woman” in the mirror.

A terrible client meeting

Park Jae-won and Choi Kyeong-jun have a meeting; one of the people is Rin-i. They are giving the client renovation recommendations. The client’s husband arrives, and he knows Choi Kyeong-jun; there’s awkwardness. It turns out this man was going to marry Lee Eun-o but broke her heart and got with a new woman. Rin-i slaps the man, and Jae-won tries to deescalate the situation. Rin-i then turns her attention to the wife and gets angrier. She blames them for Lee Eun-o disappearing for three months — the same three months she met Jae-won. It’s all starting to make sense now; we now know why Lee Eun-o has issues falling in love and using a fake name.

The man pushes Rin-i over, so Choi Kyeong-jun punches him. It ascends into chaos with Rin-i spraying coca-cola over them.

The ending

At home, Lee Eun-o cries again, and Geon grabs her tissues. Back in the office, Sun Rin-i is distraught by what has just happened. Jae-won is angry and shouts at Choi Kyeong-jun for punching a potential client.

As Jae-won leaves the office, he finds a business card on the floor that Rin-i must have left — it’s for a marketing agency, and the name on the card is Lee Eun-o. He suddenly remembers the ID in the police station and remembers the argument with Rin-i and starts putting the pieces together in his head, but he’s slightly in denial about it. He finds an address and realises that’s where he saw her that night.

Jae-won rings the number on the marketing portfolio, and Lee Eun-o answers it. He feels it is her voice, but she’s too busy arguing with Geon over pizza slices — Jae-won assumes that she’s with another man, making the entire situation more frustrating for the viewers. At the house, Geon notices the rings around her neck, and he asks about them.

Lovestruck in the City episode 10 ironically brings both lead characters’ worlds closer together, while at the same time pulling them more apart, making it agonizing for the audience.
