It’s become a mainstay event in the comic shop diary every year, and all being well, come August 14th, you can grab everyone in the household and make your way to your LCS to grab some free comics.

Usually, the event takes place in May, but you know, reasons. Over the last few years, this day has led to many people wandering into comic shops and grabbing a few free books, and then hopefully discovering the joys of collecting, that will lead them into a lifelong love affair with geek culture.

Or perhaps they grab a few books, roll them up, stick them in their back pockets, remember them later on, glance through them then throw them in the trash. You decide.

However, whatever way the scenario plays out, it’s always a busy and often fun-filled day that gets people interacting and hopefully having some fun, and all you sneaky speculators out there should find something in our list below that might catch your eye.

This year seems to have the usual mix of books, some reprints of older stuff, and then some new previews, and this seems to be the list of the top 12 titles coming out for this year.
