Physical hasn’t even ended yet, and Apple TV+ has already confirmed a second season. This, though, is good news, since the show went from strength to strength across its first ten episodes. Created by Annie Weisman and starring a fantastic Rose Byrne, the show was equal parts funny and lacerating, depicting a woman burdened by mental health issues, an eating disorder, and a man-child husband trying to discover both herself and her way to success in ’80s San Diego. Since this news has only just broken, details are still thin on the ground for Physical season 2, but we’ll be sure to update this page with more information as we get it.

Physical season 2 release date

No release date has been confirmed yet, obviously, but given usual TV production cycles, it’d be best to assume at least a year from now.

Where to watch Physical season 2 online?

This is an easy one. Physical has proved to be a hit for Apple TV+, so the second season will air exclusively on the platform. Here’s the official spiel: Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app in over 100 countries and regions, on over 1 billion screens, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, popular smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO, TCL and others, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, and at tv.apple.com, for $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial.

Physical season 2 cast and crew

It’s Byrne’s show through and through, but the cast is stacked with other talented actors, including Rory Scovel, Dierdre Friel, Della Saba, Lou Taylor Pucci, Paul Sparks, Ashley Liao, and Geoffrey Arend. There’s no reason to believe that any of the major characters won’t return for the second season, especially with most of their personal storylines still unresolved by the finale. Created, written and executive produced by Weisman, who also serves as showrunner, Physical is directed by Craig Gillespie and Stephanie Laing, who also serve as executive producers along with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements for Tomorrow Studios, Alexandra Cunningham, John McNamara, Sera Gamble, and Byrne.

Physical season 2 plot

Since Physical‘s first season finale airs tomorrow, we can’t give too much away, but suffice it to say that things aren’t exactly resolved in the end. The penultimate episode teed up several competing storylines, including Bunny’s financial woes, Tyler’s health, the outcome of Danny’s campaign, and Sheila’s emancipation from a prison of her own making. You can expect the second season to continue a lot of these themes, with a particular focus on the conflict that emerges when Sheila begins to put herself first at the expense of everyone else.
