Sweet Life: Los Angeles – everything we know so far
HBO Max’s new ten-episode unscripted series Sweet Life: Los Angeles, from executive producer Issa Rae, looks to examine the City of Angels through a new lens — that of several ambitious, young Black men and women reaching major turning points in their lives and careers. It’s right around the corner, and to give a sense of the series before it debuts, HBO Max has revealed a teaser trailer and some cast information, all available below.
The first three episodes of the nine-episode series debut THURSDAY, AUGUST 19 on HBO Max, followed by three additional episodes on August 26, leading up to the final three episodes on September 2. A reunion special will launch on September 9.

The unique perspectives provided by the series include Amanda Scott, a 25-year-old PR professional and social media maven; Briana Jones, a 26-year-old healthcare professional moving into a skincare line; Cheryl Des Vignes, a 26-year-old fashion designer and artist; Jerrold Smith II, a 25-year-old Los Angeles native, former Division-1 UCLA Basketball athlete, content creator, actor, host, model, and current Entertainment Marketing Specialist at Westbrook, Inc.; Jordan Bentley, the 24-year-old Founder & CEO of Los Angeles-based streetwear brand, Hypland; P’Jae Compton, a 27-year-old entrepreneur; and Tylynn Burns, a 26-year-old Los Angeles native currently serving as the Founder and Director of Operations of “House Party Creative,” a self-started and managed event series agency.
