- The story has moved ahead slightly; Bradley is hosting the show with her new partner Eric. Episode 1 sees New Year’s Eve approaching. Covid-19 is around the corner, and the characters are completely unaware.
- UBA has a rating problem with The Morning Show and wants to rectify it. Bradley feels she would be better suited on the evening news, but Cory wants her to stay where she is — he tells the board he wants Alex back, who has left the show.
- Cory visits Alex in Maine and tries to tempt her to come back.
- Alex is writing a book about her life, but the publicist highlights how she needs to dig deeper when it comes to Mitch, which frustrates her. On New Year’s Eve, a tarot reader tells her she is holding a lot of guilt.
- Dring New New Year’s Eve coverage, Bradley learns that Eric is getting the evening news spot, and she’s furious at Cory.
- Alex rings Cory after he leaves her a voicemail stating her “best is yet to come.” It seems Alex will be returning.
- As episode 1 ends, we learn that Hannah’s family will be filing a lawsuit against UBA.
