Emily is embedded in her career in season 2, but her love life is in tatters. She’s unable to act on her feelings with Gabriel due to betraying Camille and she also has a pact with her — neither Camille or Emily can be with Gabriel.
In season 2, Emily must learn more French after Sylvie makes it clear she needs to be more fluent for their clients. So, Emily attends evening classes, and there she meets a new character.
Who is the Englishman Alfie in Emily In Paris season 2?
Alfie, played by Lucien Laviscount, is also taking French lessons. He’s from London and he’s helping with Brexit transitions for the company he works for (very on brand). At first, Alfie does not respond well to Emily; he makes many wild assumptions about her personality, and her working life. She believes marketing is an easy job that involves partying and socialising. He also does not think Emily is fun.
Emily ii irked that Alfie does not think she is fun and needing a distraction, she decides to prove that she is worthy of knowing. Slowly, she wears him down and the two get closer. On a hot summers day in France, Emily heads to Alfie’s apartment (he has air conditioning, so that’s a plus), and the pair have sex to start a new romance in the series.
Obviously, the Gabriel problem remains in season 2, so Alfie adds a new dimension to a very complicated romantic situation. Alfie is down to earth, easy and outgoing, which presents Emily an alternative to the hard-to-get Gabriel; essentially, her ideal man. The main love plot is at significant risk.
Alfie is a great addition to the series, and it will be interesting to see what they do with him in season 3.
