The latest episode of Superman and Lois made some progress in several different areas, fleshing out the main plot, introducing an old face and suggesting the imminent arrival of a new one, and adding some welcome complication to the high-school politics. Apparently, Superman and Lois season 2, episode 3, titled “The Thing in the Mines”, will finally identify the thing in the mines, even though we all know what it is already, so let’s take stock of where we are after the second outing:

Superman and Lois season 2, episode 2 recap:

  • Clark continued to be badly affected by the presumed earthquakes emanating from the Schuster Mines and turned to Tal-Rho for answers about whether they were lingering effects from Eradication of perhaps visions of Krypton being destroyed.
  • Clark accompanied Tal-Rho, along with Jordan, to his Fortress of Solitude in order to communicate with a hologram of their mother, Lara. Tal-Rho tried to escape, but he was recaptured and sent back to his DoD bunker, and Lara was able to identify Clark’s problem as being caused by a cosmic disturbance.
  • Lois monitored the seismic activity with John, and they were able to bond a little. Nat is also fitting in quickly by befriending Sarah and helping her fix up that old Firebird.
  • Sarah revealed to Jordan that she kissed someone at camp.
  • Maybe-Doomsday broke free within the mines and wiped out the mining crew. It seems as if he was brought through intentionally by the company supervising the mining operation.

Superman and Lois season 2, episode 3 release date:

“The Thing in the Mines” will premiere on The CW Tuesday January 25, 2021 at 8/7c.

Where to watch Superman and Lois online:

Superman & Lois will be available to stream online the next day at The CW website and The CW app.

Predictions and preview for “The Thing in the Mines”:

Lots of things to discuss, so here we go:

  • Are we done with Tal-Rho now? He might become relevant again down the line, but since he was recaptured and re-imprisoned so quickly, it seems like he’ll be sidelined.
  • Is Jonathan’s rivalry with his steroidal teammate going to be a way to introduce his own powers? Very likely.
  • Will Jordan forgive Sarah? He probably should, but you know how he is with his emotions.
  • John is inevitably going to be pulled back into the Steel suit at some point.
  • It definitely is Doomsday in the mines, isn’t it? If it isn’t, who’re the other contenders?
