In the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett, an old friend was reintroduced. In fact, the entire episode focused on Din Djarin, aka The Mandalorian, and Boba Fett didn’t even feature — even Fennec Shand only appeared at the last moment. But that isn’t to say that the latest outing wasn’t important — on the contrary, it presumably fulfilled some worldbuilding responsibilities for the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, as well as bringing Mando into the fold for Boba’s coming war against the Pyke Syndicate. The Book of Boba Fett season 1, episode 6 will presumably develop some or all of these matters, so here’s where things stand:

The Book of Boba Fett season 1, episode 5 recap:

  • Mando, having earned the Darksaber by defeating Moff Gideon in combat, has been using it to help collect bounties. But since he’s unskilled with the weapon he almost chops his leg off with it, leading him back to the Armorer and Paz Vizsla, the former of whom tries to train him in its use, and the latter of whom challenges him for its ownership, given that his ancestor, the first Mandalorian Jedi, was its original owner.
  • Despite winning the duel, Mando is forced to admit that he has removed his helmet, and since that isn’t the way, he’s sent to achieve redemption for apostasy in the waters beneath the mines of Mandalore, long-since decimated during The Great Purge.
  • Meanwhile, Mando stops off on Tatooine to inquire with Peli Motto about a new ship, a pre-Empire N1 starfighter that they spend most of the episode comically rebuilding.
  • After taking the new ship out of a successful test run, Mando returns to find Fennec Shand, who offers him a job as Boba’s muscle. He’s willing to do the work for free, but first, he has to pay a visit to a little friend.

The Book of Boba Fett season 1, episode 6 release date:

The Book of Boba Fett episode 6 releases on February 2, 2022, exclusively on Disney+, and will be available to stream at 12:01 am PST or 3:01 am EST. The streaming platform has elected to drop all of its big releases on a Wednesday rather than a Friday, presumably so as not to compete too directly with other platforms.

Where to watch The Book of Boba Fett online:

As mentioned above, The Book of Boba Fett is exclusive to Disney+, which is only available with a subscription.

How many episodes will The Book of Boba Fett have?

The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 will have seven episodes, each airing on a Wednesday, but there are, naturally, plans for the show’s story to continue beyond this initial batch.

Predictions and preview for the next episode:

Since we didn’t even see Boba this week, little progress was made in the main plot. But given Mando’s reintroduction and some of the things we learned about broader Star Wars worldbuilding, there are still matters to discuss:

  • Mando is going to visit Grogu, presumably? Will that take up another episode?
  • One assumes that the whole “Mandalorian redemption” arc will be saved for the third season of The Mandalorian. Expect the Darksaber and Bo-Katan and so on to factor in there, not here.
  • What did Mando have made for Grogu? The Armorer’s dialogue suggests armor of some kind. In truth, it’ll probably just make for a nice visual signifier when we see Grogu again somewhere down the line
