This article discusses whether there will be season 2 of Amazon’s crime thriller series Reacher and its renewed or cancelled status.
“Reacher is the adaptation we deserve.” What the series has going for it are two things: A feverish built-in fanbase that has been waiting for a Reacher adaptation the fans can be proud of. The second is the amount of sheer material to work with. Reacher is based on the uber-popular book series by author Lee Child’s first installment, Killing Floor. The books feature one of the world’s most famous characters in popular popcorn fiction.
There are 26 books and plenty of stories to tell for additional series. So, the question remains, will there be a second season? Is this Amazon’s next great crime thriller series? Or will it find its way into a quick cancellation?
Will there be a season 2 of Reacher on Amazon Prime– renewed or canceled status
As of today, there has been no update on the renewal for Amazon’s thriller series. For such a high-profile series, relatively low cost of production, and virtually an unknown cast of actors, the common sense prediction would be an easy and early renewal. Amazon has shown the ability to give long-term renewals before the initial series even begins. (Please see their recent The Wheel of Time and the upcoming Lord of the Rings series titled Ring of Power).
Amazon has shown to give popular book series time to develop. For instance, the John Krasinski series, Jack Ryan, is filming its third season. This series had a pending second season renewal, and now it’s one of Amazon’s most popular series. You also have Bosch. The longest-running streaming services show ended its run last summer.
Based on the popularity of the books, early glowing reviews, affection for Ritchson’s casting of Reacher, the streaming giant’s penchant for patiently developing crime/thriller genre series, and Reacher being a cross between a nice mix of Jack Ryan and Bosch, Reacher should be a common-sense decision for a second season.
Look for a renewal announcement shortly after the series premiere.
Prediction: Yes, Reacher, with the team behind it, a built-in fanbase, and finally finding an actor to carry the Reacher name, will win a second season.
