If you are familiar with the series Unbelievable, you may have been pulled to watch Lies and Deceit. It’s certainly an eye-opening story on what happens with certain sexual assault stories. The international series was released on March 4, alongside Pieces Of Her, so it was certainly an underdog for that weekend. However, we found ourselves surprised — it was certainly a dark horse series.
Premise
The series follows Laura, who, after a date with Xavier, realizes the man raped her. What follows is confusion and shame as Xavier claims she misremembered the evening. Laura is desperate to bring Xavier to justice and ensure he does not commit any heinous crimes against women again. The six-part chapter delves into a sobering case study of sexual assault, and while fictional, it provides many truths to the justice system in the present day.

At this moment in time, Lies and Deceit have not been renewed. Netflix usually keeps their renewals secretive until they have reviewed the watch hours. However, we can speculate…
First of all, Lies and Deceit feels like a closed book in that it could easily have been a limited series. The story feels conclusive, and a continuation does not feel necessary.
However, that’s not to say Netflix will not try and find a way to renew it. If it’s super popular, it could be that we get some kind of continuation. However, at this moment in time, it feels improbable.
