Love, Life & Everything in Between season 1, episode 1 recap – “O Brother”
Episode 1 opens up with the camera scoping out the village and plenty of farm animals — the camera work is probably the representation of the young boy that stole the lucky charm (a cow called Samah). Anyway, the village Chief is organizing an engagement party for his daughter. He tells his daughter she doesn’t have to marry this man, and he tells another woman that he prefers another man called Diab.
But then, the Chief finds out that Samah is missing, and he demands a full search of the village. The cash prize for finding Samah is 50 grand. He’s apparently heartbroken that this has happened on Valentine’s Day. A young boy (and the brother of Diab) tells Diab about the missing Samah and the cash prize, and he looks interested. His brother then claims that Diab does not want to find Samah so that the Chief’s daughter does not get married — he feels his brother wants to marry her himself. Interestingly, the boy wants a family of his own and another brother.
And it seems to be working — the Chief calls off the engagement party, stating that the missing Samah is a bad omen.
It turns out that the young boy stole the Samah, and his older brother Diab still has a romance with the Chief’s daughter. They have a desire to build a family together. It’s then revealed that the younger brother planned and stole the Samah himself to ruin the chances of the wedding going ahead.
But they return the Samah, and then the scenes flash forward to the young boy admiring his young baby brother and Diab enjoying a future with the Chief’s daughter — presumably having the cash prize money also helped their cause. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the Chief’s plan all along, considering that he preferred Diab anyway.
