This article discusses whether there will be a season 2 of the Paramount+ series Halo and its renewed or cancelled status.
You may be surprised the relatively new streaming service, Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) would spend a whopping 200 million dollars on a video game adaptation to television series. For one, that is a huge commitment, considering how Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are dominating the space to a certain extent.
However, with the backing up Viacom CBS library, which rivals any service on the planet, they have the receipts to support such a venture. Lastly, video game adaptations are notoriously hard to translate to audience success. From Wing Commander to Assassin’s Creed, the garbage heap of unsuccessful video game films is evident.
Halo is set to stream on Paramount+ on March 24th and has been a long road for the series. Steven Spielberg was set to adapt the show for television in 2015. Showtime was then appointed to run the series in 2018, with Kyle Allen at the helm, and several changes had the show in development limbo. Finally, Rupert Wyatt took over the project in 2019, with a planned release a year later, but he dropped out for current showrunner Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders).
Halo is set to run nine episodes, with the finale airing on May 19th, 2022. So, the question remains, will there be a second season? Or will the risky gamble of a show stuck in development hell for the better part of a decade pay off in spectacular ways?
Will there be a season 2 of Halo – renewed or canceled status
Status: Yes! Season 2 is a go! Renewed!
Spoiler alert! Ready Steady Cut has learned the Paramount+ series Halo was renewed for a second season ahead of its March 24th premiere! (Well, okay, it was just a simple google search). It appears that Viacom CBS is planning on the series bringing in substantial returns with Halo‘s massive fanbase.
So, the real question is, with the substantial buzz around the first two episodes being released to critics, when will they announce a season three before Memorial Day?
