Two patients at a psychiatric daycare facility develop a close relationship when they are tasked with turning the treatment center into a restaurant.

Marilyn’s Eyes ending explained:

Whilst the initial goal was not for the center to become a fully-fledged restaurant, the actions of compulsive liar Clara (Miriam Leone) see that the growth of the community canteen opened there quickly gets out of hand. As more and more eyeballs land on her fake online listing and the inquiries pour in, as a result, she continues to stoke the fire and gets fellow patient and chef Diego (Stefano Accorsi) involved in her game as well.

As the false marketing campaign continues to gain momentum, they make the decision to officially open the ‘restaurant’ to the public. A big night for the new diner quickly arrives as Diego’s daughter Bianca looks set to pay the place a visit, alongside her mum, Diego’s estranged wife Diana. It turns out to be an absolute car crash of an evening, as Clara and Diego turn to tearing strips off of each other in the back of the restaurant, only to be followed by the police gatecrashing the evening in search of a music license that the venue has failed to obtain. This escalates further when Clara assaults one of the officers, resulting in her arrest and subsequent transfer to a residential facility as it would seem the daycare option is no longer enough to help her.

Meanwhile, Diego returns to a more familiar culinary setting, in the form of a new restaurant, but for all the material positives it provides, there is still something missing. He decides to track down Clara, and after the pair go round and round once more, they kiss and make up and presumably live happily ever after.

Whether they go on to make each other better people for each other and for the world remains to be seen, but it would be nice to think that if they are each what the other one is missing, that they go on to be more rounded human beings together.
