Who is Edwina Sharma in Bridgerton season 2?
The youngest member of the Sharma family, Edwina is sweet and caring. Yet, saying that she also knows that she wants to find herself a suitable match that she can truly love. With Kate by her side, Edwina has learned how to be the perfect debutante. And even with our without Kate’s aid, Edwina is a playful and mature individual.
First arriving in London at the start of the second season, Edwina has spent much of her life in India. And, as a result, Edwina represents both countries. She showcases the freedom and independence of India whilst maintaining the education and culture that is present in English society. Once Edwina becomes the diamond, she and Anthony Bridgerton appear to be a match made in heaven, at least by society’s standards. But as Edwina and Anthony don’t have the spark that Anthony has with Kate, Edwina finds her close sisterly bond with Kate threatened.
What does Edwina Sharma do? (spoilers)
Unaware that her family is running low on income, she is oblivious of the trust fund that will come into play if Edwina marries a noble Englishman. And after Kate confides that information in Lady Danduby, Lady Danduby schemes to ensure that Queen Charlotte picks Edwina as the diamond of the season. Eventually, Edwina gets chosen as the diamond. (But only because Queen Charlotte believes it will aid in her mission to uncover Lady Whistledown).
Shortly afterward, Edwina begins to court Anthony, with the pair becoming engaged to marry. Edwina, however, appears to be blind to the chemistry that Anthony and Kate have. So much so, that it isn’t until the wedding day that Edwina realizes that Anthony and Kate have developed feelings for each other.
Due to that very fact, Edwina calls off the wedding, with her sisterly bond with Kate seemingly in tatters. However, after a life-threatening accident, Edwina gives Kate her blessing to start a relationship with Anthony. During Kate and Anthony’s first dance, Edwina calls the pair a beautiful couple. Whilst Edwina didn’t find the love that she wanted, it’s not all doom and gloom. That is because in the season finale Queen Charlotte hints that she would like to set Edwina up with her nephew.
